California YMCA Youth & Government is closing in on our final event of the year for our 23rd Model United Nations. Our Ambassadors, representing more than 60 countries, spend a Saturday learning their roles at our one-day training events. Then they will put their learning into action at our 3-day Summit events. Ambassadors will advocate for their countries as they write resolutions, debate important issues, and overall try to advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Programme. |

Conference on National Affairs |
We are proud to be sending California youth to the Conference on National Affairs (CONA) again this summer. This transformative 10-day trip broadens horizons, promotes understanding, and creates lasting memories for the student leaders and volunteers who make this special journey. We could not make this experience possible without the support of generous donors like you, so please consider sponsoring a delegate with your gift today. |

National Judicial Competition |
Hot off our victory at the 2023 National Judicial Competition (NJC) where our own 75th MLC Chief Justice Katherine Beck received the Outstanding Justice award, we are preparing to send another talented, driven, and passionate group of youth and volunteers to this rigorous and rewarding annual gathering of great minds. NJC delegates and alumni often become compassionate leaders in their communities, working with others to improve the lives of many. Your contribution to this important program ensures that no one is left behind due to inability to pay. |

Staffing Updates |
In the past two years of dedicated service, Dan Powell, in partnership with Mari Bassel, brought Cal Y Y&G out of the pandemic, challenging virtual times and back to in-person programming. Dan’s outstanding leadership as he worked side by side with statewide Y CEOs, volunteers, branches, and staff set the foundation for a solid and thriving 77th year and beyond. We wish Dan all the best as he focuses on additional line officer duties for the LA Y as well as completing an ambitious branch capital campaign.
Now we are pleased to be joined by Lisa Van Ingen Pope, Senior Vice President, YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, who will be leading our efforts to increase student access to all of our Cal Y Y&G programs. With a background in board and financial development, volunteerism, alumni relations, and more, Lisa looks forward to creating the connections that will secure the resources needed to fulfill our mission. |
